A unique Safari to explore the most iconic National Parks in  Zambia.

Visit the northern park of Kafue National Park (01 July to 31 October: Including Busanga Plains), the outstanding beauty of Lower Zambezi National Park and the abundant wildlife of South Luangwa National Park.

During this tour you will be followed by a professional Tour Guide and a Chef to maximize your experience

Day 1: Lusaka

Upon arrival at Lusaka international airport, you will be assisted in final preparations (local SIM card, forex, etc.) before your Safari starts. Transfer to a good level lodge and check-in at Sandy’s Creations. Dinner in Lusaka not included.

Day 2: Kafue National Park

Kafue National Park, extending for 22,400 km2, is Africa’s second largest National Park and is characterised by many different eco-systems and sceneries. From the southern Nanzhila Plains, to the lake habitat of Itezhi-tezhi, to the fit bush and Miombo forest up to the northern Busanga plains.

During your Safari in the park, you will visit the northern sector, lodging close to the rapids on the Lufupa River and conduct numerous Game Drives in the area, including a visit to the world famous Busanga Plains (only 01 July – 01 November).

Early morning departure with packed breakfast along the way. We will reach Mapunga Bush Camp  after approximately 5 hours and check-in in en-suite safari tents. Lunch is prepared on arrival by our accompanying chef. Afternoon Game drive and return to camp around sunset. Dinner prepared by our accompanying chef and night lodging.

Days 3-4: Kafue National Park

Days entirely dedicated to game-viewing activities in the Kafue National Park: ether 2 Game drives per day (sunrise and afternoon) or a full-day game drive reaching the world famous Busanga Plains (NOTE: for this activity it is necessary to leave very early, by 05.00 a.m. in order to reach the Plains in a good time to guarantee good game-viewing occasions. Return to Camp approximately by 18,30). Evenings will be spent around the campfire and night lodging.

Day 5: Kafue – Lower Zambezi Valley

The Lower Zambezi Valley is renowned for its breath-taking views and for the abundance of wildlife that lives along the shores of the Zambezi river. This valley hosts both the Lower Zambezi National Park (on the Zambian shores) and Mana Pools National Park (on the Zimbabwean shores) creating a vast protected area where animals are free to roam without boundaries. This area deserves to be visited both by river and by land in order to fully understand the wild beauty of this place. Lower Zambezi National Park is the most recent park in Zambia and one of the wildest and most picturesque in the whole Africa.

Early wake and sunrise breakfast. Return transfer to Lusaka where we will reach around lunchtime. Break in Lusaka for lunch and supplies in a shopping area. After lunch, we will proceed for the Lower Zambezi Valley (approx. 140km of tarmac road + 15km of gravel road) and check-in at Kiambi Safari Lodge; accommodation in in en-suite Safari tent overlooking the Zambezi river. Dinner at the lodge.

Day 6: Lower Zambezi Valley

Breakfast, followed by a 3,5 hours canoe safari on the river to let you experience the sensation of the first explorers visiting this part of the world. (NOTE: the canoe safari requires confidence with water and an average physical condition. A guide will be on the first canoe, all other canoes are paddled directly by the participants. Minimum age: 15 years. No previous canoeing experience required). Return to the lodge, lunch and afternoon sunset cruise on the Zambezi river. Dinner at the lodge and night lodging.

Day 7: Lower Zambezi Valley

Free day for optional activities that can be booked in advance or directly at the lodge.

Available activities:

  • Full day Game Drive in the Lower Zambezi National Park (must be booked in advanced)
  • Half / Full day canoe safari
  • Half / Full day rover boat safari
  • Half / Full day Fishing (seasonal)
  • Local village tour

Day 8: Petauke

Petauke is a small town located approximately 350 km north of Lusaka without any particular attraction, but located half-way on the route to  South Luangwa National Park. To reach it, we must exit the Lower Zambezi Valley and drive to Lusaka (140km, approx. 2,5 hours, all tarmac road), where we will stop for supplies. From there, we will travel north-east for approximately 350km on a scenic road crossing the mountains (approx. 5 hours) to reach Petauke, where we will lodge at Chimwemwe Executive Lodge. Dinner is at the restaurant of the Lodge.

Day 9: Mfuwe – South Luangwa National Park

Mfuwe is the closest village from where to access South Luangwa National Park. Even though it is very close to such an internationally acclaimed attraction, it still maintains the spirit and looks of a traditional Zambian village.

To reach Mfuwe we will proceed for approximately 350km of tarmac road (approx. 5 hours), passing the capitol of the north-eastern province: Chipata, where we will stop for lunch. Once arrived in Mfuwe, we will check in at Marula Lodge, where we will spend the night lodging in en-suite chalets, and if the time allows we will visit the Tribal Textile laboratory. Full board, cooked by the accompanying cook.

Days 10-11-12: South Luangwa National Park

South Luangwa National Park is the most famous of National Parks is Zambia due to the abundance of wildlife and the great opportunities to spot large predators. In addition to a large population of felines (mostly leopards and lions), it is home of a large number of elephants, hippos, buffaloes and numerous endemic species such as Thorncrofft giraffe, Cookson’s wildebeests, Crashway’s zebras. The Luangwa river has the highest concentration of hippos per km2 in the whole Africa and offers great reproduction and hunting ground for many animals, such as fish eagles, jackals hyenas, crocodiles and countless birds. Sunsets on the Luangwa river are unforgettable experiences and the visit to this National Park is consider one of the highlights for any true Africa lover.

During your stay, you will have 2 game drives per day and all meals at the camp. Nights will be lodging at Marula Lodge with a full-board arrangement, cooked by the accompanying cook.

Day 13: Mfuwe – Lusaka

Early wake and breakfast and at 06.00 a.m. we will start a very long return   transfer on tarmac road to Lusaka (700km, approx. 10 hours), where we will spend the night in a good level hotel. We will stop for lunch in a traditional restaurant where you will enjoy the traditional Zambian meal: Nshima. Dinner (not included) will be at the lodge or in one of the many restaurant of Lusaka for a farewell to Zambia.

Day 14: End of Tour

Breakfast at the lodge. Based on return flight, you will be taken to the airport. End of arrangements.
