Days 2-3-4 – NOVEMBER 5-6-7: Northern Kafue National Park

Kafue National Park, extending for 22,400 km2, is Africa’s second largest National Park and is characterised by many different eco-systems and sceneries. From the southern Nanzhila Plains, to the lake habitat of Itezhi-tezhi, to the fit bush and Miombo forest up to the northern Busanga plains. During your Safari in the park, you will cross the entire park from south to north, stopping in two of the most beautiful camps: Konkamoya and Kafwala.

We will travel approximately 5 hours from Lusaka heading north to Mapunga Bush Camp, on the shores of the Lufupa river, where we will set camp for the next 3 nights. In the following days we will explore the areas of Lufupa and Busanga Plains, with continuous game drives, including full day game drives with pic-nic in the national park. In case the Busanga plains will be inaccessible due to early rains, we will visit the region of Shishamba instead.

Days 6-7-8 – NOVEMBER 19-10-11: Liuwa Plains

The Liuwa Plains National Park is one of Africa’s most remote and wild areas. The scenery, usually flat and arid, starts to cover up with grass and flowers with the arrival of the first rains and it starts attracting wildebeests by the thousands from the neighbouring Angola. With the wildebeests which join the existing populations of Zebras, Buffaloes and other antelopes also predators arrive, such as Cheetahs, Lions and Hyenas. Another breath-taking aspect of the Liuwa Plains is the diverse bird-life that remains one of the main attractions of the area.

At sunrise we will start negotiating our way to the Liuwa Plains, crossing sand paths until we enter the national park.

We will start our game drives immediately as we enter as we will proceed to our campsite. Upon arrival, lunch and setting up the camp. Afternoon game drive and return to camp by sunset. For the remaining days we will enjoy 2 game drives per day, nights will be spent around the fire at the camp, and we will sleep in camping tents.

Wake at sunrise and dismantling of the camp. Very long transfer on sand paths at first, followed by tarmac road after reaching Mongu, all the way to Lusaka, where we plan to arrive in the evening.
